GAR-MAX bearings feature a combination fiber surface liner which comprises a controlled filament wound pattern of both PTFE and high strength fibers. These materials are braided together to form a cord which is wound and fully encapsulated by an epoxy resin that has been further enhanced with a self-lubricating filler to provide a wear-resistant bearing surface.
Although GAR-MAX bearings are limited to surface velocities of 25 sfpm (0.13 m/s), they can be used at higher static loads that the GAR-FIL series. Their excellent compressive strength (60,000 psi ? 415 N/mm²) and unique bearing surface permit their use at static loads to 30,000 psi (210 N/mm²) and dynamic loads as high as 20,000 psi (140 N/mm²) continuously. They can be used at temperatures from -320 °F to 325 °F (-195 °C to 160 °C).

Excellent Resistance to Shock Loads.
Long term field testing in actual bearing applications has shown that GAR-MAX bearings exhibit greater resistance to impact and shock loads than other types of filament wound composite bearings. In addition, they can tolerate a high degree of shaft misalignment and can tolerate even more abrasive contaminants than GAR-FIL bearings.
Ideal for Tough Pivoting Applications.
The unique combination of properties of GAR-MAX bearings—including high load capacity, impact resistance, dimensional and thermal stability, and corrosion and abrasion resistance—makes them suitable for a variety of applications. They are currently used in such demanding applciations as steering linkages, hydrulic cylinder pivots, kingpins and other high load, oscillating pivots which are subject to impact loadings and structural misalignment. GAR-MAX bearings are particularly well suited for use in back hoes, front end loaders, graders, farm implements, and other off-the-road vehicles and equipment.
