When driving and driven shafts are widely separated, an unsupported or floating shaft is used to the span the gap. The two couplings required at each end of that shaft consist of one half of a standard coupling bolted to a Rigid Hub, each unit called a Flex-Rigid Coupling. Usually, the rigid hubs are mounted on the driving and driven shafts so that the flex halves on the floating shaft may be replaced with disturbing the connected equipment.
All-metal end ring eliminates the need for any type of perishable lube seal
Sleeve teeth are flushed against the inside wall of the end ring
Designed for ± 1/2° static misalignment per half coupling
Precision-drilled flange bolt holes
Exposed bolt flanges are standard
Shrouded-bolt flanges can be supplied through size 5 (size #5 1/2 and larger couplings are only available with exposed-bolt flanges)
Tight tolerance, grade 5 flange bolts to ensure a long-lasting flange-to-flange and fastener fit
