SUCCESS STORY: Eliminated Slippage Also Means Eliminated Downtime

Continental Synchrochain Carbon for the win. A large food industry customer was experiencing v-belt slippage at the pre breaker screw conveyor drive. The system was running a multiple v-belt drive, and having any type of slippage could affect overall production.

Applied® worked locally with Continental representatives, to make recommendations and plan a more effective solution. Together, they were able to redesign the drive with Continental Synchrochain Carbon. In doing so, the new drive not only weighs less and requires less maintenance, but slippage was eliminated and production was increased. This solution will also save the plant an estimated $430 per year in energy costs.


SUCCESS STORY: Breaking the Chains of Maintenance

Continental Synchrochain Carbon comes to the rescue. A conveyor system used to transfer hay was running an 80-2 double chain. Buildup and consistent wear on the sprockets, caused by the harsh, dusty environment, meant the chain could not stay properly lubricated to function efficiently or effectively. Therefore, the sprockets and chain wore out prematurely. Seeing this as a great opportunity to provide a better solution, Applied® worked with Continental and the end user, to recommend and implement better tools to get the job done. Since utilizing Continental Synchrochain Carbon, the customer has realized a smoother run, increased uptime and a cost savings, since the conveyor has been running trouble free.

SUCCESS STORY: Synchronous Drives in Serious Need of an Upgrade

A supplier was having a temperature issue with some of their drive components, and turned to Applied® for help. Applied® worked with Continental representatives to make recommendations and suggest a possible design adjustment. Together, they were able to redesign a drive for an air cooled heat exchange application, utilizing Continental Synchrochain Carbon. By doing this, the drive width was reduced by more than an inch, the drive high dropped by 72 lbs. and the overall cost was decreased by half.
